It's hard to convince today's instant generation of the need for process, yet process is critical to healthy success. Things we like, admire, respect and value often come as a result of process. A long and sometime tough process. When we look at the object we often forget the process it went through to become what it is. The car we drive, the clothing we wear, the degree we have or the diamond ring we wear, all of these have one thing in common, they came as a result of a process. A product of process.

Developing into a man or woman is the result of a process. Developing into a mature Christian is the result of a process. Life in general and our Christian life in particular not only takes time but it is the result of many victories and defeats as well as up's and down's.

We must never forget that God had a process in mind when he designed the Christian life. Our relationship may be instant but our growth takes a lifetime. It pays to be patient with ourselves when it comes to growing in Christ.

To illustrate this simple lesson one can use a variety of objects. The question to ask the group as you display your objects is: "What do all of these things have in common?" Suggested objects: A diamond ring, a watch, an apple, a mouse trap, a package of cake mix ... even a glass of water.
