THOUGHTS AND IDEAS
- Change seldom enters through the conservative door, it's the liberal door that is open to change. Unfortunately the liberal door is often an impulsive door. A shortsighted door often open to any change regardless of long-term consequence. It's always best to have a wise conservative standing somewhere near the liberal door.
- Morning begins the day. Morning begins with light. I'm a sunrise person, just waiting to get started. The sunrise is God's confirmation that we can begin anew. The sunrise is God's confirmation that darkness will not last and that light will always conquer darkness. God will prevail!
- God takes no pleasure in rhinestone Christians. He did not author glitz nor did He create gloss! He disdains showmanship. Theater is built on deception and amusement. This seems furthest from His mind! Theater simply isn't His way. His way is truth. God's power is to rest on God's man! His humble instrument. God keep us from entertaining in your name.
- We will never know how many times we thought God was working through us when He was actually working despite us.
- Life as an investment: It seems to me that those who put the most into life get the most out of life.
- Symptoms by their very nature follow the cause rather than precede it. Conditions and situations more often reveal existing problems than cause them. Most of our problems have a root cause that quietly precedes them sometimes for years.
- Momentum tends to build only on a downward plain.
- To know the future is to alter fate. To know my fate would be to alter my fate.
- The tendency of man in his zeal and energy is to out run and out plan Almighty God! Maybe that's why the Lord said, "follow me."
- I'd rather not be Balaam; I'd rather be his ass. Where God had a problem using Balaam, He had no problem using his ass. Good old Balaam, the politically correct prophet.
- Those that sit in the pew long enough will be committed to the pew. Graduating from static to sterile.
- The flip side of working with the poor is that you have the poor to work with. With the poor as potential we often end up with handicapped and damaged human resource. In most cases only a miracle of God can turn it around.
- We Gentiles have always been on a mind trip (Eph.4:17) While it's healthy to use our mind it's wrong to worship our intellect. Many Christians are guilty before God of building their own intellectual tower of Babel! As a Christian, the true cornerstone of my life and being must be faith and confidence in Jesus Christ not my intellect.
- Death is simply God's way of releasing us to a higher calling. The calling of true worship forever in the environment of glory. I don't fear the transfer ... the method? That's another thing.
- In filling out my subject line in an e-mail I found the word Christmas too long for a brief title so I substituted "X-mass" then it occurred to me that I had done what so many of us do, I found it convenient to take "Christ" from Christmas.
- As I reach this stage in life I find I have to check with my body before considering my activities for the day. When I was younger I simply headed out the door and my body obediently followed. Sometimes I feel that Jesus has the same frustration with His own earthly body the Church. After all the Church is almost two thousand years old.
- Those that tend to make excuses simply justify their weaknesses and overlook their failures; consequently they see no need to change. Those that tend to make excuses remain who they are and where they are, failing to grow into the person they could be. Excuses tend to vanish in the light of truth. Lord let me not be a man that is known for his excuses.
- Gratitude without expression bears no fruit. How can true gratitude actually exist without expression?
- Integrity, truth and individuality even creativity eventually fall victim to political correctness. Political correctness, the very glue of the masses.
- Why should I join with my evangelical brethren in their growing "Mars Hill" mentality? I haven't the time to spend endless hours in empty and futile dialogue. I'll pursue my present, simple and practical course of reaching out to the discarded millions of hurting people ... one by one.
- Sunset is that beautiful period at the end of life's lengthy sentence.
- While there are accidental parents, there are no accidental children as far as God is concerned. (K. Dodd)
- As a Christian I don't believe in random opportunities, I believe in Divine opportunities and that these Divine opportunities are to be met with a Divine response to accomplish a Divine end.
- While meaning well or sincerity doesn't justify a mistake, it does however take the edge off.
- Is God working today? Of course He is. As sincere as we humans may be I believe that God is more often working despite us than with us. What could really happen if His body were truly His and in tune with his will?
- A look back is the first step to turning back. (Mrs. Lot.)
- Special? Everyone wants to be special but if everyone is special than no one is special.
- The older I get the more I know that I don't have all the answers in fact the older I get the more I realize I don't even have all the questions.
- Two very different kind of people. Those who live life and don't have time to write about it and those who read about living life but don't have the time or courage to live it.
- If you rest too long you begin rusting.
- As soon as I was born I believed in what was physical ... what existed. When born again, I was able to believe in what does not exist, the spiritual. Why do we so desperately try to defend our born again spiritual "faith" to a physical first birth audience.
- There is no method by which we can clone success.
- There is no quick way by which we can acquire eternal treasure.
