Hey Pastor Von! So good to see you here on Face Book! Loved your visits to Tama Tama and the root beers and snickers! Your example has been tremendous for so many of us!

— David Mead, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

What a surprise and yet knowing you it is not really a surprise. You are always ready for a challenge. We met you in TAMA TAMA many years ago and you challenged our children in their walk with the Lord. Today we can praise the Lord each are walking in truth. What are you up to in your new adventure of being 80?

— Jeanie Alkire, Former M.K. in Venezuela

Hey Pastor Von, I met you when I was in 5th grade (about 14 years ago) when you came and spoke to my Awana group ... and God used you to continue to impress missions onto my heart. So cool to see you on facebook! P.S. My husband and I are headed to Brazil next year :)

— Jocelyn Richardson, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Hi, Von! Thanks so much for the impact you've had on my life. Sorry I can't be there with the rest of the gang to celebrate, but I'm thinkin' of you. The highest praise I know is that Rick is still taking credit for everything you taught him!

Blessings.

— Tom Finley, Kids pastor in KCF.

Hey Pastor Von! Glad to see that you're still going strong and serving the Lord. You were such an inspiration to all of us M.K.'s and having you come down to TT each year was a highlight for so many of us. God bless you in all that you do, and I can't wait to see how many crowns you get when we all get to Heaven. You ROCK!!!

— Robert Gwyer, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Hi Pastor Von! It's wonderful to reconnect with you again! We've enjoyed keeping up with friends from Panama and Venezuela through Facebook. You're looking really great - and you have a birthday coming up to celebrate! Well, we all celebrate you and the wonderful way that you've touched our lives. May God continue to give you health and strength to serve Him and bless the ministry, too.

— Sharon Eppler Hefft, Missionsry.

Wow! Have I ever got some things to talk to you about. You had a huge impact on my life. But I'm sure you hear that a lot. I have been wondering how you have been. You had a huge impact in my life. Not sure I realized it till many years later. Anyhow, what have you been up to?

— James Price, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Wow, so good to see your familiar face on here Pastor Von! I was originally Kristal Banks - one of the Tama Tama kids. Boy, all the good times we had with you still make me smile ... hope you are doing great over there, and I'm sure you're still as funny as ever!

— Kristal Ragsdale, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

I have heard so much about you i am going on the field because of the encouragement and guidance of Rick and Eunie Johnson..also i think you know my soon to be husband—Wesley Jank. Thank you for all whom you have touched with the light of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Someone alerted me to the fact that you are on Facebook. Just wanted to thank you for the years you came to Venezuela for field conferences. I was a new missionary then, and only was able to attend one conference. Since then, we've transitioned to NTBI Jackson and find that students are still coming our way because of your ministry. I pray that God will use me to influence young folks (and old) the way He has used you.

— Casie Falls, Missionary in Venezuela.

Thank you Pastor Von. We come in contact with so many people with whom you have touched their lives, so we talk about you often. We thank God for your faithfulness and for your ministry in all of our lives.

— Paul Griffis, Missionary in Venezuela.

Pastor von: Despite dodging the bullets in Mexico and now our famous "SWINE FLU," you are always serving the children in Tijuana, serving God thru them, in the Word, with Faith and food, and most of all with LOVE getting a smile from them with, a candy or a toy and mostly with a helping hand.

I hope that your efforts as always have been to serve God, in this particular case is to intensify the food and vitamins so that them children around your ministries in Tijuana, be enforced.

— Jose A. Torres, Business man in Mexico & Colombia (And many years ago, a child at Rose Park Orphanage).

Hi, Pastor Von! Guess what? I'm moving to Mexico at the end of summer. Still with NTM and going to a trip in the mountains near Durango. The team I'm going with have 5 kids, grades 1-6 and I'm going to start a one-room schoolhouse. Cool, huh? I think so and am excited about the challenge. Are you still working in Tijuana? I hope that God is blessing your ministry ... you've always had a great gift for speaking into the lives of us kids. I still remember a lesson (not a funny story—I remember those easily) that you taught us in 3rd grade about the man who looks at himself in the mirror and goes away and forgets what he looks like. Good stuff. Thanks! Love.

— Katie Moore, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Pastor Von, I would like to dedicate a song to you. "Thank you for giving to the Lord, I am a life that was changed" Can you hear the song? I know there are many others.

— James Price, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

You can put my name on that list of lives that were changed because of your influence, Pastor Von!

— Melanie Findley, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

I want to add my thanks to you for the influence you have had in my kids life. It was great to see their response to your teachings and interest in their lives. Thanks many times over.

— Fred Findley, Missionary in Venezuela.

I remember taking you fishing and you had one of them there fancy poles (a short one) to fish with and I had the poor man's fishing pole (a piece of wood with my line wrapped around it), but that didn't stop us from fishing together and I will always appreciate you taking time to do that with me! Thanks!

— Jacob Toews, Former M.K in Venezuela.

Hi Pastor Von, You may not remember me but I attended Emmanuel back in the late 70's and came to know the Lord under your leadership. I am now attending Skyline Wesleyan Church out in Rancho SD under Jim Garlow.

— Becky Rugnetta.

Thank you Pastor Von, You were such an inspiration and I learned a lot thank you

— Ruben Bockus, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Yes, I agree—"Thank you for giving to the Lord"—for coming to TT again and again and blessing us all—those memories and influences live on!

— Amanda Barkman, Former M.K. Teacher in Venezuela.

For several years now I have been telling my kids about this awesome pastor who used to come visit TT and had a heart for sharing with us teens at that time. And with FB I was able to show them that you were real, and show them pictures of your ministry. Pastor Von, you always had a way of making God's Word real to us. Thank you! Because of your ... Read More example, my wife and I have worked with youth off and on for the last 20 years, and are currently the youth directors at our church here in Clarksville, TN. Thanks again!! God Bless!

— Wesley Janke, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Pastor von: What an awesome achievement in life, huh!? Not many received a plaque from TamaTama! Thank you so much for the Godly input you have had in my life and also in the lives of my children! As quoted above "unique" is a wonderful way to describe our lives and experiences in Tama Tama! You were a huge part of it all! (Of course we all regret that Thelma never had the privilege of meeting us or we to meet her but we want to thank her also for we KNOW, that behind every great man there is a "great" woman! Thank you THELMA! We love you Pastor Von! THANK YOU AGAIN and know that God will continue to use you in our lives, as well in the lives of the many people you are touching and have touched around the world!!!

— Rae Bruce, Former Missionary in Venezuela.

Dear Von, I have always loved your "challenging" heart, one of those hearts that runs hard after God even when everything seems to be out of "wack," nothing makes any sense ... but you know you have heard Him speak to you and so you march to the beat of a different drum. Some of us heard that "out of sync beat" whenever you were around, and over the years, we have caught onto the thrill of walking with God in the same, unpredictable way. Thank you Von for showing us how to live as riotous followers of our unprognostic Christ. Blessings to you and Thank You for giving your life away.

— Linda K. Pfost Myers, Former Missionary in Venezuela.

To a man who had us all in stitches one moment and then the next moment impacting our lives with powerful truth from Gods Word ... Thanks ... I am a life that was changed! Pastor Von you are a man that Christ always shone through in a wonderful way and I have yet to meet one person who knows you that is still not taking a trip down memory lane every now and then about the awesome times and incredible memories you placed in their lives. You will never be one forgotten but a brother who will live in our hearts forever, along with all those wonderful memories. I am blest to know you!

— Rebecca Alkire Tigart, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Hey Pastor Von, That's great that you have a facebook. So how are things going for you? Are you still traveling to Mexico during the summers? I will never forget your stories that you have shared with us over the years. What did you do with the picture of your wife? I am here in Bolivia until Monday. I have been working at a daycare in Cochabamba. I just got back from visiting Tambo. May the Lord bless you Pastor Von.

— Melissa Joy Riepma, Former M.K in Bolivia.

Funny and Godly, who knew the two could go together

— John Alkire, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

That is awesome! You were a huge influence in my life as well, and continue to be! You mean the world to me :) Thanks for allowing God to use you! I wish my kids could have had the privilege to know u as well!

— Deb Sallee Mead, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Pastor Von, I'm so grateful to the Lord for the way that he has used you for His honor and glory in the lives of so many young people through the years. Thank you for your love for Him, and for you love for us.

— Jeff Griffis, Former M.K. in PQQ, Brazil.

I was just talking to my brother Jeff yesterday and he said he was going to try to get on here and say a few words. He has never been much for computers so I assume he had trouble getting online. Anyhow, He reminded me of the time during conference that he snuck into your room and tied a baby gator under your bed. I wish I could remember all the ... Read More practical jokes, but all I remember is a lot of laughing. You definitely taught us how to laugh. Memories are coming back in chunks now kind of like the water bottle full of chunky soup that you hide under your shirt to simulate upchucking ... So funny even though I don't remember all the details.

— James Price, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

That is SO COOL! You definitely impacted my life in ways I'll never forget!!!

— Jenifer Dawn Sallee Beckm, Former M.K. in Venezuela.

Pastor Von! You have been one of the biggest influencers in my spiritual life, pointing me so clearly towards full-time missions as you did. Being one of "Von's kids" is a very proud distinction for me!

— Phil Hess, Missionary.

Thank you for your ministry to us kids. We appreciate all that you do. We always looked forward to your visit.

— Julie McHardy, M.K.

Just to let you know that you have turned out to be a very handsome white haired old man of 80 ... Happy after birthday to you Von ... its' great how you are getting back in touch with kids you have touched over these many years in their places ... Thanks Von for your faithfulness

— Pat Dye, Missionary in Venezuela.

Pastor von: Nothing like the days at Emmanuel Baptist in P.B. and the Wednesday 7 programs. What a dynamic and vibrant time for a new Christian like I was then. Thank you, thank you, thank you! You have truly made a difference. I find myself thinking of you constantly these days and asking the Lord to continue to bless your ministry. Hope you're well and no where close to being called home! Grateful to the Lord and to You.

— Bill Carlson, Former Wednesday 7 Kid.

I was also the guy who showed up late one Tuesday evening to your Bible study because of having to hitchhike to P.B. from O.B., and a fellow picked me up in O.B. while he was actually on his way to commit suicide. His wife had taken their daughter earlier in the day, left him a note on his pillow and said they were finished with him, and here he was heading down the road to do himself in. He spotted me with my thumb out looking for a ride, picked me up, and then after a bit asked me if that was a Bible I was carrying. When I replied in the affirmative, he proceeded to tell me his story, that he too was a believer, but his life was a mess, and he was going to end it once and for all. We spoke for a good while sitting across the street from your apartment, he prayed to re-dedicate his life to the Lord, and went away a much happier man then when he had picked me up. All of this happened because on my way to start hitchhiking I had been praying that the Lord would use me like He did with Philip and the eunuch from the court of Queen Candace in Ethiopia. A lesson you had taught us weeks before!! From the Book of Acts if memory serves me right.

Glad that my message to you "made your day," but Von, I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for you helping to "make my life."

— Bill Carlson, Former Wednesday 7 Kid.

Hello pastor von, how are you? hope you are doing good. I know that God is taking good care of you, and has taken good care of you, and has blessed you all your life. All the memories I have of you are good, my brothers and including my sister Felipa see you as our father and we love you for that, by the way happy Fathers Day. love always.

— Jose Lopez Montez (Former Child at Rose Park Orphanage).

Hey pastor von ... I used to go to Tambo ... found you through a friend. I really appreciated your ministry. My maiden name was Susie Parker. I'm sure you remember my brothers better. haha. You are the one who taught me to laugh at myself.

— Jeremy-Susie Bullard (Former Tambo M.K.).

Thank you Von. You have a happy Father's Day also. You are the spiritual dad to thousands of men and women out all over the world making an impact for Jesus!

— Don Smith, Y.F.C Director in San Diego.

Hey von, .. just spent part of the day with Baja Christian Ministries, and your name came up ... actually I brought it up ... wanted to let you know what a privilege and blessing it is to be under your tutelage!

— Robin Clement, Worker in Baja, California.

Pastor Von: Well, hello to one of the few people in my life who have challenged me to learn and grow all the while making me laugh at my own efforts. Nice to "see" you around.

— Shelly Naldrett, Former Tambo M.K.
